This season our scouting department will be giving an update prior to the start of each game week to give you all the information you need to get your team top of the standings.
Roster Moves
Even though our scout was away last week we still just have the one signing to look at. Alexandre Lavoie spent last season in France splitting time with Rouen and Marseille and was close to a point per game player. Prior to that he has spent the last nine seasons playing across multiple European leagues with good success across most of those. With Chase Gresock out for “an extended period”, Lavoie will be asked to pick up the scoring of one of Guildford’s top snipers. He is added in to the game at 8.0M.
FHL UK Points Update
We have had six full scoring weeks so we have a good idea of who has started the season in form and who has not. Is it time to move on from the high priced players who have struggled so far? Lets look at a few of those players at 9.0M or higher who aren’t near the top of the list.

Lets take out the injured players as they should be traded away as soon as possible. Peter Bates and Chase Gresock are both out long term while Tristin Langan hasn’t played since the end of September.
Jordan Kawaguchi also didn’t play to start the season but has picked up points over the last three weeks. After 24 goals last year he’ll need to produce more than he has so far if he is worth keeping in your teams. There are three Sheffield players all at 9.0M in the list with Dominic Cormier, Adam Rockwood and Mikko Juusola all having less than 100 points so far. Cormier started the season well but has just 10 points in total over the last three weeks, but he is still logging huge minutes (over 25 minutes per game) at even strength and on the powerplay so is worth keeping for the time being. Rockwood and Juusola are very similar in that both are still playing over 15 minutes per game although aren’t putting up huge numbers, although only having two forwards in the top 25 scorers in the league indicates that the Sheffield offense isn’t as potent as we usually see. At the moment it is worth looking at other options and spreading you budget elsewhere.
Ben Bowns is the biggest surprise on the list scoring less than 2.0 points in four out of the six weeks, and four losses in his last 5 games. His only win was a shutout against Dundee which accounted for 47.7 points. The underlying numbers are respectable though with over 90% save percentage in four of those five games, so he has been solid without a lot of help from Cardiff’s offense. If you are happy with him splitting time in goal and generally having one game a week then he is worth sticking with.
