Gameweek 28 gave us a proper swing at the top. Ulett The Dogs Out did enough this week to move into 1st overall, knocking Jere the Berry off the summit and turning the title race on its head. Add in a big weekly win for The Crease Crashers, a few sharp climbs inside the top 20, and a handful of standout individual performances, and this one had plenty going on.
🏆 Gameweek 28 winners
The weekly honours went to The Crease Crashers, who led the round with 350.1. Jooky Time were next on 346.6, with Slippery Sardines close behind on 345.6. Laight Again kept the pressure on with 345.1, while Nottingham Golden Arrows rounded out the top five on 344.0. It was one of those weeks where a very good score still wasn’t enough to crack the podium.
📊 The overall standings
The biggest headline is right at the top: Ulett The Dogs Out now sit 1st overall on 8568.1, ahead of Jere the Berry on 8497.2. That is a lead of 70.9 points, and it completes a full reversal from the most recent earlier overall table on hand, where Jere led Ulett by 9.4. In other words, Karl Seed has gone from chaser to pace-setter in a hurry.
Behind them, A Team Has No Name hold onto 3rd, while Tallbergs Predators move up to 4th, nudging The Kessel Run into 5th. Belaks Blaze remain 6th, The Flying Puckhits are 7th, and Nottingham Trojans stay in 8th. Puck Drop Pals rise to 9th, and Huskies complete the top ten in 10th, with Newark Trashers IHC just outside in 11th.
📈 Big movers
Compared with the most recent earlier overall standings I have available, Laight Again are the eye-catching climbers, jumping from 23rd to 14th. Shakey Sheriff’s move from 15th to 12th, and Huskies climb from 12th into the top 10. Tallbergs Predators also edge upward, swapping places with The Kessel Run to move into 4th.
There were a few tumbles too. Where’d ya get ya Carr from aye slide from 14th to 20th, PEYHockey fall from 24th to 30th, and Newark Trashers IHC drop from 9th to 11th, losing their top-10 place. Reading Royals also slip from 11th to 13th.
🌟 Star performers
This week’s player table had a bit of everything. Cole Sanford topped all scorers with 52.0 after piling up 1 goal and 5 assists, while Kristoff Kontos was right behind on 51.0 from a huge 3-goal, 3-assist night. In goal, Christian Stoever put up 50.1 with 2 wins, 51 saves, and a shutout, which is the sort of goalie line that makes fantasy managers fall in love with the crease all over again.
On defence, Jordan Power led the way with 45.0, and Jakob Stridsberg followed with 30.0. There were also strong weeks from Brandon Estes (28.0) and Nicholas Welsh (26.0). Up front, Brandon Cutler hit 40.0, Didrik Henbrant scored 39.0, and Brady Gilmour posted 36.0. It was also a very good week for shutouts, with Justin Fazio and Evan Weninger both delivering one as well.
🧊 Team of the Week
Using the usual one goalie, two defencemen, and three forwards format, the Gameweek 28 Team of the Week looks like this:
G: Christian Stoever – 50.1
D: Jordan Power – 45.0
D: Jakob Stridsberg – 30.0
F: Cole Sanford – 52.0
F: Kristoff Kontos – 51.0
F: Brandon Cutler – 40.0
That is a genuinely nasty fantasy six. If someone stacked that lot, they were probably checking the leaderboard with a grin the size of an arena jumbotron.
👥 Selection trends
The template names are still very familiar. Colton Saucerman remains the most-selected player with 155 picks, followed by Brandon Estes on 140 and Mitchell Balmas on 130. Mike Lee was selected 119 times, while Dominic Cormier continues to be a staple at 103.
What made this week interesting, though, was that some of the biggest scorers were not the absolute chalk plays. Kristoff Kontos had only 37 selections and still exploded for 51.0, while Christian Stoever had 28 selections and produced the best goalie score of the round. Cole Sanford, on the other hand, was a nice middle ground: well backed at 59 selections and fully repaid the faith with the highest skater score of the week.
🔍 What it means
The title race has changed shape. Ulett The Dogs Out are now the team everyone else is aiming at, and Jere the Berry suddenly have to respond rather than dictate. Beneath them, the top 10 is still shuffling, with Puck Drop Pals and Huskies improving their positions while Newark Trashers IHC and Reading Royals feel the squeeze.
And further down, this was a very good week for teams pushing from the pack. The Crease Crashers, Laight Again, Slippery Sardines, and Nottingham Golden Arrows all used strong weekly totals to keep building momentum. It is getting to that point in the season where one hot gameweek can still turn a nice season into a very annoying one for everyone above you.
