This season our scouting department will be giving an update prior to the start of each game week to give you all the information you need to get your team top of the standings.
Roster Moves
We’ve got a few new signings this week to review but first there was news that Jake Kupsky has moved over to Belfast from Guildford where playing time was limited as one of three import goalies. He initially covered Jackson Whistle over the passed weekend while he was playing for GB but he will once again form a goalie trio with Alexis Gravel, so playing time may be limited again. He remains at the same value of 8.0M.
Belfast have also brought in Ben Freeman from Denmark who was in the middle of his first season outside of North America. Freeman adds good size to the forward group at 6’5″ with decent if not spectacular points production. Three seasons of mid-thirties points each season in the ECHL was followed up by 14 goals so far this season for Frederikshavn. He is added in at 6.0M. Some bad news for Clan fans with Deven Sideroff being out for the rest of the season, and there were still 34 GM’s with him on their roster. They have moved to bring in Mick Messner who had already moved from the Utah to the Slovakian league this season but has only managed nine points combined. Prior to that he did has some solid seasons in Utah so is added in at 6.0M.
Who’s Hot?
This week lets have a look who’s not hot with first looking at some the injuries across the league. In Fife David Booth and Josh Winquist missed the weekend games taking two of their most potent offensive threats off the roster. Booth has already had a drop in 15 selections last week with Winquist losing three selections. In their game against Cardiff there was no Ben Bowns, Cole Sanford, Connor Caponi and Evan Mosey for Devils presumably due to injury. For Sheffield’s demolition of Dundee there was no Kevin Tansey or Cole Shudra, while the Stars were missing Matt Boudens.
Finally if we look at Guildford’s game against Manchester there was no Charlie Curti, Jake Coughler, Nick Seitz or Josh Waller (away with GB) for the Flames, while Storm were missing Drew DeRidder, Brad Jenion, Dante Hannoun and Joseph Nardi.
Drydn Dow was our pick last week in another disaster of a selection as he picked up 0 points across Dundee’s three games. We’ll move on though to this week and we have Coventry and Belfast playing three times to everyone else’s two games as they have their cup semi-final on Wednesday. Belfast’s other two games are both away in Nottingham over the weekend so our preference is for a Coventry player this week. Defenceman Jere Vertanen has been one of the top form players in the league lately averaging 28 points per week over the last five weeks, so we’ll hope for a change of luck with him.
Current average points per week so far – 23.0 points.
