This season our scouting department will be giving an update prior to the start of each game week to give you all the information you need to get your team top of the standings.
Roster Moves
We have just the one new signing this week as Fife have brought in Slovenian forward Jaka Sturm for his first season outside of his native country. Jaka has good size at 6’4″ and used that to put up 46 points in 44 games for his hometown team HDD Jesenice last season. Having jumped between the different leagues getting an accurate projection for his points production in the Elite League is difficult, but he is added in at 5.5M. Is he undervalued and worth adding into your team?
Who’s Hot?
The answer is Chase Pearson. His 85 points last week is more than every other player has managed all season combined except for Brandon Estes, Tristin Langan, Josh Winquist and Mike Lee.
One tricky position to try and fill effectively so far is in goal as there has been a lot of rotation for some teams. Is it worth having two lower priced goalies who are picking up regular points and you can use that extra cash elsewhere? Lets look at the goalie scores so far…

We can see that Lucas Brine and Drew DeRidder are getting regular starts for Glasgow and Manchester respectively but haven’t picked up many points so far. They are ones to keep track of though. Elsewhere you have Kevin Carr, Eamon McAdam and Christian Stoever who are all priced as being the backup’s this season, albeit as ones we thought would get a good amount of starts. All three have started at least one game each week and had two out of three weeks with at least 10 points. If that playing time continues then they are valid options.
We were on the right track with our pick of the week in going for a Nottingham forward, and had a respectable return with Mitch Fossier’s 30 points, however the incredible 85 points from Chase Pearson stole the show. This week we have everyone playing twice but Cardiff and Sheffield both had two home games so our pick should come from one of those teams. Although Sheffield had a quiet weekend lets back Mitchell Balmas to have a good week.

Upcoming Schedule
It’s back to a traditional weekend schedule in Week 4 after two straight weeks with midweek fixtures, teams are only in action on Saturday and Sunday of this new week.
With no ice in Braehead this week, Glasgow Clan are on the road for both of their fixtures this weekend. They travel to Guildford Flames on Saturday before heading to Sheffield Steelers on Sunday. Both are league fixtures for the team that won its only other league fixture to date.
Also on the road both nights are Belfast Giants. They head to Scotland, playing in Fife and then Dundee as Challenge Cup games continue for the Giants.
Dundee will travel to Sheffield on Saturday night as both the Stars and Steelers play the first game in their league campaigns.
In the Challenge Cup, Group A leaders Cardiff Devils could almost cement their place in the next round in a home double-header weekend. They face Coventry Blaze on Saturday before taking on Nottingham Panthers on Sunday. The Panthers, who seem to have found their groove after a slow start, also meet Manchester Storm on Saturday night in the Cup.
Manchester Storm and Fife Flyers play their first league fixture of the season when the teams meet on Sunday, while Coventry host Guildford in the Cup to round out the weekend.
