We’ve been running a NHL Fantasy League all season for those who have been playing our UK version. The final round of the playoffs start now so lets have a look at the final league standings as well as the results from the first playoff round.
Andrew Savage’s Andy Macho Men Savage took the league title honours with a 17-4 record this season, two games better than Paul Edwards’ The Kessel Run with 15-6, who was in turn two games ahead of Sam Avery’s Belaks Blaze at 13-8. The battle for the last playoff spot for the champion went down to the wire Backstrom the Brink beating out Ryan’s Rowdy Team and The Suzuki Super Squad on the last week.

In the winner bracket fixtures we had two very close results over a two week period with the lower seed winning both fixtures in what was a tense final day. Belaks Blaze build a lead early on but The Kessel Run came back to within 3.3 points at the end with a Columbus collapse proving decisive on the last day. The two highest scores were in the other fixture with fourth seed Backstrom the Brink having two huge daily scores of over 50 points in the final week to take victory over top seeds Andy Macho Men Savage. This went down to the final two fixtures of the week with Jack Hughes two goals and two assists for New Jersey giving Backstrom the Brink 15 points just in the one game to prove decisive.

That brings us to the final over the next two weeks. Backstrom the Brink vs Belaks Blaze. Good luck to both teams and we’ll post an update after the final.
