We have now reached the final of the FHL UK Shield Competition with Paul’s Krakens facing Georgia James’ Blazin’ Squad. Here is how the semi-finals finished –

In a low scoring week overall both semi-finals were fairly tight with a goal or two proving the difference across the week. Lets look at both of our finalists to see which players could make a difference.
Krakens
Here is the team from last week along with an overview of scores.

🧤 Goaltending
- Kevin Carr (16.3) and Drew DeRidder (15.4) combined for 31.7 points, giving the Krakens a stable foundation.
🛡️ Defence
- Four defencemen hit 10+ points, led by Jere Vertanen (13.0).
- Two zeros appeared, but the forwards more than compensated.
🎯 Forwards
This is where the Krakens shone:
- Jacome (29.0) and Gleason (27.0) were elite.
- Kawaguchi (22.0), Langan (22.0), and Pearson (20.0) added huge depth scoring.
- Only two forwards blanked — both depth roles.
Blazin’ Squad

🧤 Goaltending

- Vertanen (13.0), Welsh (10.0), and Garát (10.0) added strong depth.
- But two defenders posted zeros — a potential weakness.

This group is pure volatility:
- Jacome (29.0) and Gleason (27.0) matched the Krakens’ stars.
- Langan (22.0) and Pearson (20.0) were excellent.
- But three forwards posted zeros — a major risk in a final.
